Peshava XI Cricket Club

Peshwa CC was formed in August 2002 by a handful of very keen, passionate and enthusiastic club cricketers that originate from Maharashtra – a mid west state in India. Maharashtrian cities such as Mumbai (formerly Bombay), Pune, Nagpur have generated talented cricketers for the National team and what started as a friendly beer match at Kenton CC on the 18th August 2002 continues to grow – we currently run two sides in the Middlesex League playing regular Saturday cricket. Age, race/ religion and abilities are not the membership criteria – enthusiasm to learn the the game and comradeship are the key factors.

Having trialled a friendly side in the formative years, the season 2004 saw Peshwa CC debut successfully in the 1987 League finishing runners up and just behind Indian Gymkhana- another notable cricket club that is an established sports club in West London. With the increase of player members, we formed two sides and currently have our home ground at Northwick Park and apart from the Saturday cricket, organise various social get togethers (Darbars) to strengthen the friendships. Winter training takes place via indoor nets and the club is run by an elected committee to steer the continual progression.

PESHWAs were the last successful ruling administrators from 1749 to 1818 in Western India and in keeping with the ‘PESHWAI values’ – we value competitiveness, open communications and embrace the spirit of cricket on and off the field.

For membership, please contact Anil Kulkarni. Membership is open to all (youngsters encouraged). If you enjoy cricket, stop being a ‘gaadi kheladoo’ and gain some fun exercise !

Team kit equipment is provided by the club though you will be required to supply your playing whites and as previously done, we aim to have a ‘cricket mela 2006’ during the later part of summer 2006. The club committee is managed via

2nd Team Captain – Rajesh Dadhe
