The program traces the history of Marathi poetry of more than 700 hundred years through dance. |
Ranjana Phadke has been a performing kathak artiste for the last 16 years. She has had the privilege to perform at various festivals organized by the Cultural Affairs Directorate, the Maharashtra Government, and Apna Utsav, to mention a few. She has also given performances in the U.K. and Netherlands . As a Kathak artiste, Ranjana Phadke has choreographed and presented a number of ballets and dance dramas. She has choreographed Kathak dance items in group forms, which she presents along with her students. All these items include the training that she and her senior disciples, have been undergoing for the last ten years. |
The dance workshop will be a unique opportunity for people of all ages to learn classical Indian dance, as well a chance to perform in front of a grand audience during the anniversary celebrations. |

2) 'Chimana Bandhto Bangala' ( The sparrow builds a nest ) - Marathi play |

Written by celebrated author Vijay Tendulkar especially for children. |
This is a one act play for family entertainment, targeted towards a young audience. It comments on believing in oneself. It insists that everyone has characteristic features and cultures that can be respected, may it be in birds or in human beings. The play was written in the 60's ... but still is very relevant to the scenario. It is a comedy and involves a few songs and dances to make it colourful. |

Sandeep has several books of poetry to his name and presents solo programs as well. Saleel Kulkarni is a young, but established music composer who has composed music for several albums as well as Marathi movies. He is a talented singer and harmonium (Indian musical instrument) player as well. |
This is a show that appeals to young and old alike with its informality and the relevance of the poems and songs to everyone's life, and encourages one to explore that excellent form of literature - poetry! |
